Summer Of 2017
Better Homes & Gardens India
|April 2017
The trend report is in and it’s looking rosy and Insta-ready. So, what gets a thumbs up this spring-summer? Well, perky cheeks, glowing skin, sleek and waist-length mane and statement mani.
This year’s beauty trends, showcased on international catwalks so far, have been quite contradictory. While some opted for absolute perfection, others turned mess and absent-mindedness into an art form. However, we pick the trends that suit us best and leave the most rebellious and scandalous ones behind. So, while most makeup brands are belting out dark navy blue lipsticks and glitter lip tints, BHG says, ‘we’ll see’!
1 KISSED LIPS
Are you tired of hearing that your lipstick is bleeding? No problem! The ‘imperfect, smudged lips’ look has been painstakingly created to come to your rescue. The effect is called ‘just-kissed’ and many international ramps showcased this easy-to-create, easy-to-maintain lipstick application. The trick lies in letting the colour saturate in the middle of the lips while diffusing the edges. Yes, the era of lip pencils is passé. So, go on and flaunt those imperfections.
2 DOLLED-UP LASHES
This season, the rule of the lashes is simple: There is no middle ground. Think delightful lash maximalism, which includes doll-like, boldly-coloured and 60s-inspired styles. We recommend that you go all out with your mascara. Use a clear mascara first to curl your lashes and follow it up with an intense black or a rich coloured one. However, for a subtle take on the trend, consider clumpy, slept in lashes or the understated navy-blue mascara. You can also invest in some artificial, reusable lash sets for a full effect.
