Don't tell me I can't…...become a racing driver

Adjusting my helmet, I gripped the steering wheel as adrenaline coursed through me. Lined up on the starting grid, as I watched the red light go out, I hit the accelerator. Reaching speeds of 100mph, I focused on the racetrack ahead of me, paying close attention to tight bends, careful not to lose control.

It was March 2017 and this was my first race, but as I soared along, and felt a thrill at the increasing speed, I knew it wouldn’t be my last.

It was my husband Paul who first introduced me to motor racing. We’d been married since April 1990 and had three children, Phoebe, Alicia and Joshua. I was a stay-at-home mum, Paul was an operations director and, as the kids got older and had lives of their own, Paul and I found we had more time for hobbies.
