The 1,000 supreme titles are netted by a much-admired 138cm show pony and a consistent heavyweight hunter

A SHOW pony lifted the £1,000 Veronica White pony supreme on her third outing with her new jockey. The impeccable 138cm contender Landemann Bird Of Paradise (Tweetie) – jointly owned by John Harvey, Penny Carvosso and Greer Taverner – was piloted by Greer’s daughter Beatrice Taverner-Jordan, 10.

Connor McCormick of the Brookvale Stud judged the pony supreme.

“She was a true-to-type show pony who was very well produced and schooled; she was foot perfect,” commented Connor, of the Martin Jonesbred eight-year-old mare who is by the recently deceased super-sire Cusop Dimension out of Longriver Nightingale.

“I asked the riders to wow me and this jockey did just that. She rode her show very well,” Connor added.

Tweetie had long been admired by John and Greer prior to their acquisition of her at the end of last season.

“Greer isn’t one to become besotted with a pony but she saw Tweetie at Three Counties and said how much she loved her,” said John. “She reminds me of a female version of the successful show pony Broadgrove Showman we used to have, so when she came up for sale we jumped at the chance to buy her.”

On her first two outings with Beatrice, Tweetie won early Royal International (RIHS) show pony and part-bred tickets, also landing the latter section title at British Show Pony Society (BSPS) Area 15A.

Tweetie was Beatrice’s Christmas present, as John explained: “We pretended we were going to see her for a client, but surprised Beatrice with her at Christmas. They’ve gelled really well together.”
