Show girls, singers, emotional speeches and a princess dress – no, it’s not Vicky Pattison’s wedding, but her lavish engagement party in the City of London, complete with 150 guests.
The star-studded affair matched the grandeur of a celebrity marriage ceremony, and Vicky and fiancé Ercan Ramadan agree that the experience felt like they were actually getting hitched.
“I’ve learnt loads,” Vicky, 34, tells us after the celebrations over a Zoom call from her Essex kitchen. “On the wedding day I’m going to ask my wedding planner to take us away for half an hour just for ourselves.
“I had the best time celebrating with my friends and family, but I didn’t get much of a chance to actually be with him. So, we’ve learnt on our wedding just to have some time for us.”
And planning for their extravagant party has dominated their lives so much, the pair have decided to put arrangements for their actual nuptials on hold until 2024, following their initial hopes to tie the knot next year.
“The engagement party completely took over,” Vicky laughs. “It was like a wedding – it was massive! We have put them [plans] on ice, but our wedding planner Susie lives in the Cotswolds and we’re going to stay there in a dog-friendly hotel in September. We’re taking [their Labrador] Milo and we’re going to get our heads down with it.”
While sipping a juice, she continues, “We really want to get married abroad and we want to explore some different places. I want to travel to Palma and see a wedding venue there and Ercan’s still campaigning for Cyprus! I think next year is going to be one giant wedding recce!”
