Charlene's disappearing act

Throughout all of her struggles living in the spotlight, Princess Charlene of Monaco has had one place she could always go to tell her side of the story. Whether it was giving updates about her health, posting sweet snaps with her children or dispelling gossip about her marriage, the former Olympic swimmer regularly shared it all on Instagram.

But on August 24, her direct line to the outside world disappeared as her account quietly vanished off the social media platform. The timing of being taken down coincided with fresh reports the princess, 45, and her husband Prince Albert, 65, were living “separate lives”.

While the pair vacationed with their 8-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, on a yacht in the Mediterranean in mid-August, French Voici magazine reports that afterward, Charlene failed to return with her family to the palace in Monte Carlo. Instead, she is “living in Switzerland” and returns to her husband’s principality for “ceremonial reasons” such as accompanying him to the Red Cross Ball on July 29.

Another publication reported the arrangement works well for the family.

“Albert and Charlene are now good partners, [and] take turns taking care of the children,” a source tells German magazine Bild.
