If there's anything guaranteed to boost ticket sales for a new movie, it's a speculated feud between its stars. Just like the Don't Worry Darling drama involving Olivia Wilde, Florence Pugh and Harry Styles in 2022, new film It Ends with Us is faced with its own controversy, which hasn't hurt its box office takings.
Rumours of a rift between leading lady Blake Lively and her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, have circulated since promotion began. The pair have not done interviews together nor posed with each other at premieres.
Lively, 36, is bearing the brunt of the speculation as social media users express disappointment at how the film is being marketed. Some believe the press coverage Lively is involved in is too lighthearted for a film that deals with domestic violence, with calls for more serious conversation about the subject matter. A video posted to Lively's Instagram shows herself and two co-stars joining Colleen Hoover, the author of the book on which the film is based, to ask each other fun questions, with social media users letting their thoughts be known. "Tone deaf.
Such a disappointment," one wrote.
