'It takes guts'

When Tee Swan started writing erotic romance in 2013, it was something of a dirty little secret. "I didn't tell any of my friends or family for three years," Tee admits to WHO with a laugh. "Once people read it, they assume that it's exactly what you're getting up to in the bedroom every night, so it takes a lot of guts to put your name to it," she explains.

Fast forward to just over a decade later and the bestselling author is well and truly out of the closet. As she speaks with WHO, Tee is just one day away from hopping on a plane to the US to promote her latest novel, The Bonus, and is expected to be greeted by hundreds, if not thousands of cheering fans at each event on her tour before returning home to do it all again Down Under.

The changes in her personal life are just as profound. After the small family-owned retail store Tee was running went bust, she came across an old diary in the garage from when she was a teen in which she had mapped out her future goals. Top of that list was to write an “erotic romance”.
