Kate Moss TAKING CONTROL

In the three decades since Kate Moss was signed by Storm modelling agency in 1988, the British beauty has remained an enigmatic figure. Her image is everywhere, but her voice is relatively unfamiliar because she has seldom given long-form interviews.

However, in a rare chat with BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, which aired July 24, Moss, 48, said she’s “actually very shy” yet opened up in candid detail about hard lessons learnt throughout her career – including, she told host Lauren Laverne, “a horrible situation” with a man who told her to take her top off for a bra catalogue when she was around 15 years old. “I took my top off and I was really shy then about my body, and he said, ‘Take your bra off.’ I could feel there was something wrong, so I got my stuff and I ran away,” Moss explained, noting the experience had “sharpened her instinct” and now she could “tell a wrong ’un a mile away”.
