എഴുത്തിലും അച്ഛനോളം പ്രചോദനം എനിക്കു വേറാരുമില്ല. ഞാൻ എഴുതിയതെല്ലാം അച്ഛനെപ്പറ്റിയോ അച്ഛനു വേണ്ടിയോ ആണ്. 1975-76 കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആദ്യ നാടകം എഴുതുന്നത്. എം.സുകുമാരന്റെ ചരിത്രഗാഥ' എന്ന ചെറുകഥയെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി അതേ പേരിൽ എഴുതിയ നാടകമായിരുന്നു അത്. കാസർകോട് ജില്ലയിലെ കാറഡുക്ക എന്ന ഉൾഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് ഞാൻ അന്നു താമസിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ആ കഥയോ അതു സംബന്ധിച്ച മറ്റു രേഖകളോ ഒന്നും കയ്യിലില്ലാതെയാണ് ഒറ്റ രാത്രി കൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ ആ നാടകം എഴുതി തീർത്തത്. നാടകം അന്ന് ഇരുനൂറിൽ അധികം സ്റ്റേജുകളിൽ അരങ്ങേറുകയും ഒട്ടേറെ രചനാ മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ പുരസ്കാരം നേടുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്റെ അച്ഛനാണ് ഞാൻ ആ നാടകം സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
