YACHT LIFE

The scenes where Diana takes sons William and Harry to Saint-Tropez were filmed in the port town of Andratx on the Spanish island of Mallorca. Meanwhile, 240ft-long superyacht Titania - which costs around £600,000 per week to hire - doubled as Mohamed Al Fayed's luxury vessel, Jonikal.

The Netflix crew were banned from filming at Eton College, where William and Harry went to school, and instead had to shoot the schoolboy princes' scenes at Winchester College, Hampshire.

FINAL FAREWELLS

Hundreds of extras were called upon for the filming of Princess Diana’s funeral, with Winchester Cathedral standing in for Westminster Abbey. Dodi’s funeral was shot in London Central Mosque in Regent’s Park where the actual event took place.

‘That was a coup,’ says The Crown’s supervising location manager Mark Walledge. ‘We had to think about our approach because of the sensitivity around the scenes we wanted to shoot. But it all fell into place.’
