With his supply chain re-established via the French connection, and the Italian families buying their drugs from him, life was looking good for New York underworld kingpin Ellsworth ‘Bumpy’ Johnson (Forest Whitaker) towards the end of season two of period crime drama Godfather of Harlem.
But since his drugs shipment went up in flames in the 1964 Harlem riots, Bumpy, who’s been trying to take control of the Black neighbourhood since he came out of prison at the start of season one, now finds himself owing $3 million to the Mafia.
If he fails to square the debt with Mob boss Joe Colombo (new cast member Michael Raymond-James), he must face the consequences, which could involve the car-crusher at Colombo’s scrapyard…
