DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) is forced to abandon her festive plans to solve a midwinter murder when the popular Northumberland-set crime drama returns to ITV1 for its first-ever Christmas special.
The story begins with Vera and her team organising a Secret Santa and looking forward to a well-earned break. That's until they're called to Holy Island to investigate the bizarre death of scandal-hit TV star Rick Kelsall in a staged suicide.
