NEW COMEDY DRAMA
The White Lotus
Monday, 9pm, Sky Atlantic
Holidays can be a time for sightseeing, relaxation and rejuvenation – but as so brutally portrayed in Sky Atlantic’s comedy drama The White Lotus, the time spent alone with your loved ones can also pile unbearable pressure on your most intimate relationships.
The first season won a host of Emmys as it followed a group of privileged holidaymakers at the titular resort in Hawaii. Now, for season two, the action has shifted to another of the hotel chain’s locations, in Sicily, and features a new cast of characters who find their lives unravelling during their getaway.
‘I’m trying to create a whole new kind of vibe,’ says writer and director Mike White. ‘I’m not somebody who’s good at sustaining a show for season after season – that’s not my storytelling skill. So to be able to come in with new characters and just go for it, have it be more of an anthology, that seems really fun.’
