MIDSOMER MURDERS TUESDAY, 8PM, ITV1 DRAMA

Dedicated DCI John Barnaby and DS Jamie Winter really ‘knead’ to use their loaves in this week’s new Midsomer Murders mystery! Set in the world of organic baking, the third and penultimate episode in Series 23 of the everpopular ITV1 crime drama, A Grain of Truth, sees life in the (fictional) village of Lower Blissingham begin to crumble when residents start experiencing terrifying hallucinations after eating seeded rolls made by local superstar bakers Tom (Robert Gilbert) and Chrissie Larkton (Rebecca Night).

Can Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and Winter (Nick Hendrix) work out who’s behind it and why?

Here, in an exclusive interview with TV Times, Neil, 63, tells us why this story is the best thing since sliced bread…

With this episode revolving around a bakery, did you get to sample any lovely baked treats during filming?

I’m very sorry to tell you this, but whenever we get all these delicious food items on the show and we think, ‘Ooh, that looks nice!’ the props team rush up and say, ‘Please don’t eat anything as it’s all been fireproofed!’ If you’re filming on location for a week, all the food has to be sprayed with this special stuff to stop it rotting or going mouldy. So, sadly, that’s what happened!

What a shame! Can you share some clues about the plot?
