THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL FROM WEDNESDAY 19 OCTOBER, NETFLIX FANTASY DRAMA

Have you ever wondered where your favourite fairy-tale heroes and villains hone their craft? If so, look no further, as Netflix enrols us in a glossy new fantasy epic, The School for Good and Evil.

Based on Soman Chainani’s debut 2013 novel of the same name, the plot follows chalk and-cheese teenagers Agatha (played by Sofia Wylie) and Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso), who find their friendship put to the test after they are whisked away to a magical academy where fairy tales are born.

Here, TV Times guides you through the action-packed adventure, which was filmed on location in Belfast…

ONCE UPON A TIME…

The story begins in the (fictional) village of Gavaldon, where golden-haired seamstress Sophie spends her days dreaming of princesses and finding a happily ever after with a charming prince, while Agatha, with her grim aesthetic, is anything but popular.

‘Agatha is an outcast in her village and has been characterised as a witch,’ says High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Sofia, 18.

‘Nobody likes Agatha but the person she loves most is her best friend, Sophie. Their friendship is so beautiful.’

The unlikely duo, however, soon find their world turned upside down after they are kidnapped and taken to an enchanted school where aspiring heroes and villains are trained to protect the balance between good and evil.
