In late September of 2024, ex-creative director Hedi Slimane unveiled his spring/summer 2025 collection via a short film entitled Un Été Français, or A French Summer. Directed by Slimane himself, the cinematic short was inspired by Françoise Sagan's 1965 novel La Chamade and was shot within the historic Château de Compiègne in Paris.
Continuing the nostalgic '60s essence of the fall/winter 2024 collection, the spring/summer 2025 campaign further explores the archetype of the French It girl-drawing inspiration from iconoclasts such as Jane Birkin and Françoise Hardy. Amidst the opulent grounds of the château, models in chic French bobs and minimalistic headbands navigate the sprawling corridors and lush gardens in babydoll dresses, pleated A-line skirts and impeccably tailored twinsets complete with kitten-heeled slingbacks and strings of layered necklaces. With Un Été Français marking Slimane's final collection for Celine, it seems like his exploration of Parisian femininity has also come full circle-a fitting finale to the trailblazing designer's seven-year tenure at the French label.
