Skin icing is the go-to beauty ritual for hot summer months, but does it actually have benefits?

If there is one skincare hack that every generation swears by, it's skin icing. In fact, its popularity in the recent past cannot be ignored, with celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Bella Hadid posting about their icing routines. After using simple ice cubes, people are now trying cold therapy techniques, such as applying ice rollers and opting for cryo facials. However, skin icing might not be all that deserving of this attention. We dig into the trend.

The Jack Of All Trades

From treating acne and dark circles to wrinkles, dullness, and redness, skin icing is considered to be the one-stop solution in the skincare regime of many. Dermatologist and co-founder of Sarin Skin Solutions, Dr. Ankur Sarin, however, reveals that the only situation where this technique helps is when you want to reduce inflammation and redness. "That being said, if you don't know the cause of the redness, the effect of skin icing will be short-lived," he adds.
