WHAT LED YOU TO BUY THE HOUSE, AND WHAT WAS THE OVERALL CONDITION WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT?
We had been contemplating a move from southeast to west London for some time to be closer to friends and family, and to enjoy these leafy suburbs, which now offer convenient links to key destinations in the city via the Elizabeth Line. The house met our needs, but it needed a lot of cosmetic work to bring it up to date.
WHAT WERE YOUR PRIORITIES AT THE START OF THE PROJECT?
Our aim was to create a sense of familiarity and comfort, while designing a high-functioning space which catered to our various needs.
Our goal was for the project to progress efficiently and to stay broadly within the allocated budget.
WHAT SUPPORT DID YOU FEEL YOU NEEDED FOR THE DESIGN PROCESS AND HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT FINDING IT?
We knew it would be a big project and that we needed to partner with designers who understood our style, preferences and aims, and who could provide advice, particularly regarding building works and kitchen design.
When we worked on our previous home there had been a particularly challenging room and I reached out to Slightly Quirky. At the time they were too busy to take on the whole project, but they showed me how to solve the layout with a sketch - for which I was very grateful, so I approached them and this time I am pleased to say that they could help us with the whole project.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
