How did you come to choose this site? Our client had long been charmed by the Meudon building, which is perched above Elizabeth Bay. How did you become involved with this project? Our projects often include significant artworks, which drew the client to us through their love of collecting and a connection at Martin Browne Contemporary. What were the challenges of the space, and how did you resolve them? The building's architecture borrows the acute corner site solution from New York's iconic Flatiron Building.
The triangular interior required strategic furniture placement to optimise the views of Elizabeth Bay and maximise the amenity of the apartment. The triangular bathroom, as well as being ruthlessly replanned, was expanded visually with decorative devices: receding blue-grey microcement walls, striped marble floors and decorative door panels referencing the koi pond in the adjoining Arthur McElhone Reserve.
