There's a very specific Spotify playlist that Periwinkle Interiors' Jen Cadman will have playing when you walk through the front door of her latest project, Daranggara House, a stunning two-storey textured pink villa she owns in Sydney's Palm Beach.
"It's called Dinner with Friends," says Jen. "Knowing the name of it tells you everything about the mood of this place.
I just want my house to be full of friends and family. It's such a large space that you want to have everyone around you." Intended to be a beachside escape for Jen's family of six, Daranggara House, which was built in the early 2000s, is a strikingly unique take on the quintessential beach house that populates Australia's waterfront suburbs, defying the typical breezy, whitewashed aesthetic of coastal homes. "When it's your own, you can be brave, take risks and, if it doesn't work, you can change it," she admits. This philosophy is evident in every corner of the house, most notably in the daring exterior - a warm, pinky-terracotta hue inspired by the architecture of Granada and earthy tones of Morocco. "I did a lot of research on those areas and kept coming back to this beautiful colour.
