Indian mutual fund industry in 2042 The next 20 years will be a period of explosive growth for the Indian mutual fund industry. The growth of index funds and ETFs will offer even more options for investors.
Deposits and cash still account for more than 70 per cent of the total gross financial savings of an average Indian household. Some portion of this will shift towards better risk-adjusted returns.
There is one area that still needs to be improved. The total number of unique investors still remains at the three-crore level. This offers us a huge opportunity. For our population, we have a very low number of financial distributors and advisors. Financial literacy at an early age will incentivise more to join this industry.
