When thinking about a trip to Switzerland, known for its chocolate and cheese, you might wonder if it is the best place for vegans.

However, pleasantly enough, Switzerland, even for vegans, is an intriguing destination with surprises beyond your expectations. In Zurich, the opportunity beckons to move beyond basic sustainable dining norms. Vegan restaurants are evolving, consciously reducing sugar and gluten, embracing alternatives like tofu, seitan, and paneer, while prioritising local sourcing.

I am in Zurich and following a Vegan diet for a month, an experiment to try and see how living a vegan lifestyle could be. Known for banking and luxury shopping, Zurich surprises with its vibrant vegan scene. Haus Hiltl, the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant as per the Guinness Book of World Records, is an essential stop on any list of top vegan and vegetarian eateries in Zurich. Sacred And Vegelateria is a 100% organic and vegan restaurant dedicated to offering a unique dining experience. With a diverse buffet and pay-by-weight style, it appeals to locals and visitors alike. Their Vegelato, made from organic fruits and sweetened with dates, is a must-try, featuring exceptional mango and chocolate flavours.
