Navigating mismatched LIBIDOS

Remember the days when you and your partner would give each other a simple look and instantly, you’d be all over each other ready for a passionate night? The reality is that many couples experience a change in desire over time – but if you’re feeling out of sync when it comes to intimacy, know that you aren’t alone!

Most couples (around 60 per cent of long-term partners) admit their libidos become mismatched. This is called ‘desire discrepancy’ where you or your partner has a higher or lower sex drive than the other.

This unbalancing of the sexual scales, while common, doesn’t mean you need to leave it that way. While one partner is facing sexual rejection and lowered self-esteem, the other is feeling pressured that they aren’t living up to their partner’s standards. Leaving this problem unattended creates distance, resulting in fights, miscommunication and in some cases, infidelity.
