SJM: Thank you so much for giving Smooth Jazz Magazine this interview.
NORMAN: Yes, gladly
SJM: So I wanna talk about "It Hits Different"
NORMAN: · Yes.
SJM: How did this album come about?
NORMAN: Well, basically, the mark in time changes from second to second. So I always wanted to stay current, get maintained. The integrity that the people fall, you know, they love this music is identified. And so it is different in terms of, you know, rhythms, chord changes, melodies, subject matter, and all those elements that create a life. That's where I came up with the idea.
SJM: I listened to all 11 tracks so many times, but what stands out to me, of course, is "It Hits Different" because for me it's like a Chicago stepping song.
