In a major step to tackle pollution in the Sabarmati River caused by chemical-laden sewage, the municipal authorities have begun deploying advanced sensors to monitor water quality. Any breach of water quality standards will now be flagged in real time to the municipal sewage treatment plant (STP) department, the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
