Speaking at its third-quarter trading update, chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall said that demand for content from free-to-air broadcasters had fallen. It came as the weak economy reduced demand for ads and industrial action shut down the production of programmes in the States.
As a result, ITV Studios is now expected to deliver 3% growth for 2023 as a whole. Although the writers' strike has been settled, actors in the US are still in dispute with film and TV studio bosses. Dame Carolyn said revenues from the business due in 2024 would be deferred to 2025 as a result.
