'Christmas came early with Penelope's mechanical heart'

A SICK little girl has been given a lifeline after her heart condition was highlighted by the Mirror.

Penelope Greathead, 14 months, had a mechanical Berlin heart fitted to take over the work of her failing organ.

Dad Jordan, 34, said "Christmas had come early" for the family after he and partner Hollie Suff, 33, were told there was no bed available at the specialist centres able to fit it, London's Great Ormond Street and the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

One did become free at GOSH after we told of their plight and Penelope had the operation last Friday.
