Thomas Tuchel yesterday agreed to become England's next manager, replacing Gareth Southgate three months after the heartbreaking Euro 2024 final loss to Spain.

And with the former Chelsea manager's colourful past both on and off the pitch, it could be an interesting time.

If Tuchel's role is confirmed, the 51-year-old will be the Three Lions' first German boss and third foreign one after Fabio Capello and the late SvenGoran Eriksson.

He is said to have agreed a "lucrative deal" to lead out the team at the next World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the US.
