A SECURITY guard who helped disarm an alleged knife attacker has been feted by diplomats.

Pakistan's High Commission made Abdullah guest of honour at its Independence Day event in London.

The 29-year-old told the Australian Broadcasting Commission he had "heard a scream" on Monday morning before running towards the incident outside the cafe where he worked in Leicester Square.

He leapt in to protect an 11-year-old Australian girl as she was allegedly stabbed "eight times" by Romanian Ioan Pintaru.

Abdullah, who held the man down, told ABC: "I would say that I'm a brave person.

"We Pakistanis are brave by heart. So I wasn't scared.
