The Hammers face Wolves on Monday with Lopetegui knowing a defeat to his former club will likely see him sacked after only 15 league games in charge.
The club's board met on Thursday to decide whether to make a change, having conceded eight goals in defeats to Arsenal and Leicester (Jamie Vardy scoring, above).
But having backed Lopetegui with £120million spent on new signings in the summer, it was decided to give him another shot at turning things around.
Lopetegui said: "I have a big commitment in my work as always. I am very happy to stay at West Ham. We are going to change the situation. That is why we are working, to be ready for Monday.
