ERIC Morecambe's widow Joan has died peacefully on her 97th birthday, following a short illness.
She married the comedian, famed for his double act with Ernie Wise, in Margate, Kent, in 1952.
Joan, who died on Tuesday, was devoted to Eric until his death in 1984, aged 58.
They had three children&nbsp; Gail, with Eric sta 71, Gary, 67, and Stephen, 54. In a statement, they said: "It is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we must share the news that our mother, Joan, has passed away peacefully at the age of 97" In 2015, Joan was made an OBE for charitable services.

She was the founder of the Lady Taverners, part of the Lord's Taverners youth cricket and disability sports charity.
Eric and Ernie are still remembered for routines like their TO HIM Joan Bring Me Sunshine song and dance. Joan tue in 1999 said recently: "He'd have been over the moon about that." Ernie died in 1999, aged 73.
