Post Office an abject failure' over IT compo

THE Post Office is "not fit" to run the Horizon scandal compensation scheme, MPs have said.

A report by the cross-party Business and Trade Committee slammed the firm's "abject failure" on the issue and said it should be removed from the process.

Hundreds of sub-postmasters are still waiting for compensation.

The bill for taxpayers is set to top £lbillion, with no deal in place on what software giant Fujitsu will pay.

Liam Byrne, who chairs the Commons committee, said it was "high time for the circus of recent weeks to end" and it was a "national disgrace" those affected had not yet been compensated.
