BRITAIN'S most valuable stamp collection is up for grabs and could sell for as much as £12million.The set of 52 stamps includes the largest surviving block of unused Penny Blacks, the world's first adhesive stamp in 1840, which last sold for £900,000.The most valuable and rarest single stamp is an 1864 Plate 77 Penny Red, priced at £650,000, which is one of only nine in existence.The collection also features a 2 12d Prussian Blue issued in 1935 for King George V's Silver Jubilee, priced at £12,000. The King had forbidden the stamp being printed in the colour, but 480 examples still appeared. The set is being sold by Paul Fraser Collectibles, who described it as the "most valuable collection of GB stamps available anywhere in the world". The Bristol company, which is accepting offers, worked with key philatelic figures over several years to unearth the finest quality British stamp rarities.Estimates for the collection are between £8m and £12m.CEO Mike Hall said: "It comprises some of the most elusive and valuable classic British stamp rarities.
