711 at home on full pay amid probes

SUSPENDED COPS HIT RECORD HIGH

A RECORD number of police are suspended on full pay as chiefs probe allegations against them.

At the start of this financial year, 711 officers were on gardening leave due to alleged wrongdoing, such as brutality, sexual misconduct and corruption.

This is up from 496 in 2023 and 225 in 2022. Their estimated weekly wage bill is more than £600,000.
