4 DEAD IN MIGRANT CHANNEL CROSSING

FOUR migrants have died after a boat capsized during an attempt to cross the English Channel.

A Royal Navy patrol boat was alerted to the incident off the coast of Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France, overnight on Thursday.

Police said that four people found "unconscious" could not be saved and some 63 were rescued.

A helicopter and fishing vessel also assisted in the life-saving mission.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called the loss of life "truly awful".
