40.000 ILLEGAL VAPES SEIZED

ALMOST 40,000 illegal vapes have been seized in Scotland in the last two years but just a fraction of the sellers were punished, it has been revealed.

Edinburgh was the country's biggest illicit vaping hotspot in 2023 with nearly 5000 black market gadgets seized.

But over the past five years, 92 percent of retailers caught selling them went unpunished -with just 37 fines issued for 454 cases. Last year, 18,623 illicit vapes were seized by the authorities, with 192 Scottish shops caught selling them. But only 25 faced any penalties.
