SHERIFF officers took possession of the council home of a blind and dying man - just a day after he was rushed into hospital for a blood transfusion.
James Montague, 58, told the Record earlier how his only wish is to die in the Motherwell home his family has occupied for 61 years.
But he was slapped With an eviction decree by North Lanarkshire Council after a protracted tenancy wrangle.
Jimmy was rushed into hospital on Sunday after becoming unwell but sheriff officers turned up at his home in Millfield Avenue to carry out their duties anyway. Despite James's brother Patrick and sister Elizabeth attending the eviction and appealing for a reprieve, a locksmith drilled out the locks and the house has been secured.
Patrick, 62, said: "We've been at our wits' end because of Jimmy's health problems and the eviction is an absolute disaster for him.
