SCOTS campaigners have slated Tory rightwingers threatening to thwart plans for a disposable vapes ban.

Rebel Conservative MPs led by disastrous ex-PM Liz Truss attacked measures announced by Rishi Sunak to stop kids from smoking and vaping.

If approved at Westminster, the disposable vapes ban will be replicated in Scotland after backing from SNP FM Humza Yousaf.

But Truss has threatened to derail the legislation, hitting out at "nanny state" policies she branded "un-Conservative".

Now those who backed the Daily Record's Bin the Vapes campaign are urging Truss to back off.

Scottish Greens health spokesperson Gillian Mackay said: "Not content with setting fire to our economy, Liz Truss would also rather see people's lungs corrupted and our streets left littered by her ill-judged intervention too.

"The fact that a ban and restrictions doesn't fit in with the former prime minister's fantasy of society must also be one of the clearest signs for voters of all persuasions to know it should go ahead.

"I am proud that Scotland has been leading the campaign on SNP MP Kirsten Oswald, a strong backer of the Record's Vapes campaign, said: "It is deeply disappointing the disgraced Liz Truss has come out against measures a designed to prevent harm to the health of young people.
