Phillipines bid to deport champ back to Scotland over criminal conviction row

A BARE-KNUCKLE boxing champion faces deportation back to Scotland from the Philippines.

Derek "Decca" Heggie, from Montrose, Angus, faces proceedings to send him home after details of a past criminal conviction came to light.

Filipino authorities paraded the fighter-turned-actor and a US criminal on TV, while announcing both would be booted out of the country.

Heggie, 40, has had a turbulent life, marked by addiction and mental health struggles.

But he had a taste of fame in The Corrupted, a gangster film, as a crime boss's righthand man. He performed with household names Timothy Spall, Hugh Bonneville and Scot David Hayman.

A tearful Heggie was allowed to make a final video for YouTube followers.
