A MONKEY that captured the world's attention when he escaped from a wildlife park in the Highlands has been caught after four days on the run.

Honshu, a Japanese macaque, was captured in Stephanie Banyan's garden after she left a Yorkshire pudding under her bird feeder in the hope of luring him.

His escape, from Highland Wildlife Park near Kincraig in Inverness-shire, led to a flood of social media users wondering where the naughty primate was and what he was getting up to.

Many used AI picture creators such as ChatGPT to come up with hilarious mocked-up images.

They included a kilted Honshu being chased through the Highlands by police, the monkey in a tartan tammy with booze at Wick and Thurso stations, and taking part in the Up Helly Aa fire festival in Shetland.
