The SNP's Westminster leader spoke out after council chiefs warned thousands of refugees could be left sleeping in public buildings after the Home Office called for outstanding asylum applications to be sped up. Glasgow councillors were told 2500 asylum claims would be fast-tracked on Home Office orders by the end of the year.
Flynn has echoed calls from Glasgow council leader Susan Aitken for the Home Office to pause its plans and work with the council to put a phased and managed process in place. He said Scottish Secretary Alister Jack could do "what Suella Braverman tells him".
Speaking to the Record at the SNP conference in Aberdeen, Flynn said: "What we've been arguing for is a return to safe and legal routes.
"That would allow us to ensure we're not in these deplorable situations with a backlog, and as a result people are being pushed in to accommodation that is inadequate.
"We will do everything we possibly can to put pressure on the UK Government to act."
The Home Office said: "The pressure on the asylum system has continued to grow, which is why we have taken immediate action to speed up processing times and cut costs for taxpayers."
