SCOTS have reported a staggering 285,000 cases of fly-tipping since 2019 but just 51 people have been prosecuted, statistics show.

The figures from the Scottish Lib Dems show 284,762 fly-tipping incidents were reported between 2019/20 and 2022/23.

Of these, just 51 were referred to the procurator fiscal and only 3317 fixed penalty notices were issued.

Glasgow City Council reported the highest number of incidents with 88,357 across all four years but issued just 335 notices.
