The quartet of Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson, Lauren Henry and Georgie Brayshaw looked sunk and heading for silver with just 100 metres to go in the women's quadruple sculls final.

But in a thrilling finish at Stade Nautique, the four dug deep to somehow surge across the line ahead of Netherlands by just 0.15 of a second.

A photo finish was required to find out who had struck gold.
