FAMILIES on low incomes are paying higher prices for food, broadband and insurance, it has been warned.

A report has found that poorer households pay an extra £444 for essential goods and services.

The Fabian Society said regulators should step in to ensure poorer families can get cheaper deals. It wants the introduction of a social tariff offering a 20 per cent discount on energy bills for those who are less well off.
