Nine in 10 women surgeons face sex ordeals

NINE in 10 female surgeons have suffered sexual misconduct in Scotland's hospitals.

The shocking figures reveal the medics experienced regular harassment from patients and their own colleagues.

The behaviour included sexual comments, displaying of sexualised pictures, unwelcome physical contact as well as sexual assault and rape.

The survey, by the Working Party on Sexual Misconduct in Surgery (WPSMS) and the Surviving in Scrubs group, also found that eight in 10 male surgeons had experienced sexual misconduct at work.
