NOVAK DJOKOVIC got up off the clay to stage his second unbelievable comeback at the French Open inside 42 hours.

The world No.1 only finished his five-set victory over Lorenzo Musetti at 3.08am local time on Sunday.

And back on Court Philippe-Chatrier at 4pm yesterday, the Serb appeared to be limping to a last-16 defeat against No.23 seed Francisco Cerundolo when he needed treatment on his right knee in the second set.

Djokovic blamed the clay court and told supervisor Wayne McKewen: "I screwed up my knee because I made a quick move. I'm sliding and slipping all the time." He pulled up in agony chasing a drop shot in the fourth set and the defending champion seemed set for his earliest exit here since 2009.
