Post Office hero slams derisory Horizon scandal damages offer

POST Office campaign hero Alan Bates has said he will reject an "offensive and cruel" compensation offer from the Government.

The former subpostmaster, who has led a two-decade fight for justice in the Horizon scandal, said that the amount was about a sixth of what he had requested.

Alan, whose battle inspired ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office, told the Telegraph: "The offer is derisory, offensive and, after all this time, cruel....

"I've heard from several subpostmasters who have received similarly derisory offers.
