Peak fare cut's just the ticket

TRAIN passengers can travel at rush hour in Scotland without paying peak-time fares from today.

The ambitious pilot scheme is aimed at boosting passenger numbers across all ScotRail services and will run until the end of March next year.

It means commuters travelling between Glasgow and Edinburgh before 9.30am on weekdays will see the price of their tickets drop by almost half.

A peak time return on the main line between the two cities was previously £28.90 - but that will now drop to £14.90.
