PHIL STEAM AHEAD FOR TITLE CHARGE

THE ominous shadow of the champions chasing history is looming large over the title race in England.

Manchester City moved up to second with this win, just two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand.

And even more impressively, it was Phil Foden who stepped forward with a magnificent hat-trick to underline his brilliant run of form.

He said: "I'm delighted with the way I'm playing. I'm in the best form I've had in a City shirt and long may that continue.

Foden's boss Pep Guardiola added: "He always had an eye for a goal. He's had an impact with goals this season.

"We had a lot of chances but their keeper was sensational." City are finding their groove.

It is now nine straight wins in all competitions - including five on the bounce in the league - as they aim to become the first team to win four titles in a row.
