Rankin: I was snubbed for Rebus cameo role

SIR Ian Rankin has revealed he was snubbed for a part in the new Rebus TV show.

The best-selling author said he was supposed to have a cameo role in the BBC series about his fictional detective but the production team forgot about him.

He turned up at the Oxford Bar in Edinburgh, Rebus's favourite pub, for a day of filming during the shoot.

However, he was left sitting with other extras in a back room all day. When he came out, the n cast and crew had disappeared.
